In my 25+ years in the counselor's chair I believe I helped quite a few couples preserve their salvageable marriages.
But when the guy was a misogynist pig like Pastor Blimp, and the woman asked me for my most brutally honest assessment, my answer was typically something like this...
Dottie...your husband is an asshole. He has always been an asshole, he will always be an asshole. What we need to work on is why you don't believe you deserve better.
